Acer continues Vero’s green push among 2022 tech announcements
Acer recently announced its upcoming 2022 product line, ranging from laptops, PCs, displays, projectors and peripherals, with a major focus on sustainability.
New additions to the Vero lineup paved the way for this eco-friendly push, highlighted by two new Aspire Vero laptops made from various recycled materials. Available in 14-inch and 15-inch versions, the laptops include the latest 12th Gen Intel Core processors, Intel Iris Xe graphics, and Full HD displays. Both offer USB 3.2 and Thunderbolt 4 ports for various connectivity options, including the ability to charge your phone when the laptop is off.
Notably, both Aspire Vero laptops are made with environmentally friendly practices in mind. Each uses OceanGlass trackpads made from ocean-related plastic, and individual components — such as the chassis, display bezel, and keys — use varying percentages of post-consumer recycled plastic intended to reduce environmental pollution. Acer’s carbon footprint. While the 14-inch Aspire Vero doesn’t have full local pricing or launch details, the 15-inch version will launch in October starting at $1,299.
This environmental focus also extends to other Acer Vero additions, such as the Veriton Vero All-In-One Desktop PC and Display, available in a 24-inch Full HD IPS model. Also incorporating post-consumer recycled materials into its construction, the Veriton Vero uses the latest 12th Gen Intel Core i9 processor, a discrete NVIDIA GeForce MX550 GPU, up to 64GB of RAM, and dual M.2 SSDs with up to 2 TB of storage. Designed for work collaboration, it includes a webcam that can point to a user or group for video conferencing sessions, as well as a webcam shutter for privacy. Another nifty inclusion is the facial recognition infrared scanner technology which can lock and blur the screen if an unrecognized user is detected. A local release window and pricing for the Veriton Vero will arrive at a later date.
Along with various eco-friendly Vero peripherals, including a new mouse and keyboard, Acer unveiled several display options. This includes new 27-inch and 23.8-inch Full HD monitors, in addition to the workplace-focused Vero PD2325W projector with a chassis made from 50% post-consumer recycled plastic. It’s rated for up to 30,000 hours of use, at 1280 x 800 resolution, and supports 24/7 use for public viewing.
Other major announcements from Acer include the unveiling of the versatile Swift 3 OLED laptop with a 14-inch 2.8K 16:10 display that launched in October at a starting price of $1,699. Six new Chromebooks join the Acer lineup, along with the latest Spin hybrid laptops, and several additions to the Aspire 5 laptop and desktop lineup.
Gamers can expect various new laptop and display options as part of the Acer Predator and Nitro series. It is worth noting the 3D gaming laptop Predator Helios 300 SpatialLabs Edition, which is distinguished by its support for stereoscopic 3D technology without glasses. Its 15.6-inch UHD display features a glued-on top liquid crystal lens, allowing tilting stereoscopic 2D or 3D viewing. Not widely seen in games since the Nintendo 3DS handheld console, this technology will support over 50 modern and classic games at launch. Internally, the laptop features a 12th Gen Intel Core i9 processor, an RTX 3080 laptop processor and 32GB of DDR5 4800Hz RAM. No word yet on local release details.
As tech companies ramp up their 2022 product offerings, it’s encouraging to see a focus on sustainability and technology made from materials that won’t be thrown away. You can check out the full range of the next Acer equipment via company website.
