LYNN – To celebrate their victory at the Division 2 State Championship last month, the St. Mary’s baseball team will be hosting a full day of celebrations, which includes a golf tournament in Lynnfield and an evening of festivities in Lynn on 20 August.

The day begins at 4 p.m. at Reedy Meadow Golf Course in Lynnfield, where the team will host a nine-hole shotgun-style tournament until 7 p.m. The celebration will then move to Lynn, where the Gannon Municipal Golf Course will host a “Night at the Races” Event.

The “Night at the Races” event will feature toy horses named after the players and coaches of the St. Mary’s Championship roster. These horses can then be bet and moved via a roll of the dice. There will also be raffle prizes, an array of scratch tickets, a cash bar and finger foods until 10pm.

Those interested in making a daily donation or sponsoring some of the events have several options. A global event sponsorship costs $ 500 and includes eight tickets, with your name on the event schedule and mentioned throughout the day. A race or golf cart sponsorship costs $ 250 and includes four tickets and your name on the event program. The cost to participate in the golf tournament and gain access to the celebration afterward is $ 125, while $ 100 will allow you to sponsor a table or golf hole during the event. Those who only wish to attend the celebratory event can do so for a cost of $ 35.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to a Championship Banquet for St. Mary’s players and coaches.

Those who wish to register for golf must do so by Friday August 13 at the latest, the number of places being limited to 80 players.

For more information or to register, please contact St. Mary’s Head Coach Derek Dana, St. Mary’s Assistant Coach Tim Fila or St. Mary’s Athletic Director Jeff Newhall.
